Emersyn is spending her very first Christmas in the CHOP Pediatric ICU as she continues her fight against RSV. Even here, surrounded by machines and monitors, we want Emmie to feel the Christmas magic.
Our girl has beaten the odds time and time again, even before she was born. She had a severe case of hydrops while in utero due to parvovirus. Now, she has endured days on a ventilator, with multiple lung leaks (pneumothorax and pneumomediastinum), and with a chest tube.
Throughout this hospital stay and during the two other times CHOP has saved Emmie’s life, Devan and Ryan have declined every suggestion to start a fundraiser to help with costs that come with having a sick child with two other kids at home. But as family and friends who feel helpless, we created this GoFundMe to support them in any way possible.
What lies ahead for Emmie outside of this hospital stay is still unknown, possible ongoing treatments, genetic testing, nursing needs, medical equipment, and more. The road may be long, and we want to help ease just a small part of that burden.
Devan and Ryan asked us to share one thing clearly. In addition to helping with costs, this GoFundMe serves as an opportunity to raise awareness about how serious RSV can be and that the greatest gifts will never be found under the tree.
Thank you for your prayers, love, and support. ❤️
