Support for Emerald City Boxing's Amateur Team

Spende geschützt
Thank you for considering a donation to the amateur boxing team at Emerald City Boxing Gym! So far, in 2024, our team has been working hard to prepare for shows in Washington, across the US, and internationally. Our team has experienced all the excitement, joy, and fulfillment that has come along with being a part of these shows. Many of you have followed us on this journey and celebrated right alongside our fighters and coaches. The lesser known side of this journey is the early mornings and late nights our team has put into training. Their commitment, perseverance, strength (both mental and physical), and dedication to the gym, the boxing community, themselves, and the sport of boxing is unrivaled. Even more impressive, each member of the ECBG amateur team holds a job and life outside the realm of boxing and they still manage to give themselves fully to their training.

While the gym tries to support the team financially with travel expenses, they end up covering much of it on their own. This has limited our ability to attend certain shows and ultimately impacted our fighters ability to see their training payoff.

We are now reaching out to our community of friends, family, neighbors, gym members, supporters, and beyond to ask for your help in raising funds for the Emerald City Boxing team's 2024 travel expenses. Every dollar raised here will fund gas, air travel, rental vehicles, lodging, food, and more that will allow our team to compete in more events. By providing these funds, our fighters can focus on training and successfully managing their time without the added weight of financial responsibility for travel.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

The ECBG amateur team is full of some seriously impressive individuals. Read more about them and their boxing journey here:

Jordan:
"Boxing has gifted me with, above all else, a chance to practice courage. In life, we face uncertainty on a daily basis — we have little to no control over external circumstances, such as what happens in the world around us or how others act, but we do have control over our preparation and our conduct in the face of hardship. Similarly, when we are in the boxing ring, all that is in our power is our emotional response and preparation. We can’t control who our opponent is or accurately calculate how we might measure up against them. What we can do, however, is work as hard as possible to be as ready as we can for whatever comes our way. We can work on how we interact with both our successes and our failures. Boxing is incredibly therapeutic to me for these reasons - it has helped me develop my resilience. It’s all about overcoming struggle, rising above fear and doubt, and learning to rely on yourself. Fighting gives me the chance to practice pushing through and problem-solving when the going gets tough.”

Liann:

"Years ago, my mom told me a Korean proverb that roughly translated means, “To catch a tiger, you must go to its den.” For me, boxing is a way of living this proverb. More than anything else in my life, stepping into the ring makes me feel afraid and nervous. My real opponent isn’t the person I’m facing against, but the fear and anxiety—do I deserve to be in this ring? Have I worked hard enough? Do I know what I’m doing? What if I get my ass beat and have to live with the embarrassment of it?—that sometimes makes my legs go numb down to my boxing shoes. Every second I’m in the ring is a chance I have to confront the proverbial tiger and meet the most challenging parts of who I am.
And while boxing can be a very solitary sport, it’s also given me a community in Seattle that I’m so grateful for. I moved to Seattle three years ago and was worried that the “Seattle freeze” would hit me hard. Instead, I met my partner, Phil, at ECBG, have met new friends and mentors at the gym, and have also met a badass group of women in gyms like Nomad Boxing Club that have made my life feel so full both within and beyond the sport."
