Eloy Figueredo was a beloved young man who passed away on Wednesday, June 3rd, due to an ear infection that progressed to terminal meningitis while in Massachusetts state custody, where he should have received swift medical care.
Our family is asking for donations to help ease the financial burden during this extremely difficult and unexpected time. Contributions will be used for medical, funeral, and memorial expenses, as well as to help the family in the struggle that lies ahead, as we work to lay Eloy to rest with the love, dignity, and respect he deserves. We are incredibly grateful for any support whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Eloy's life was not defined by being incarcerated, he was so much more than his circumstances. He was a loving father, a beloved brother, a cherished son, and deeply loved by all of his friends, family, and co-workers, both in Miami, where he was born and raised, and Lynn, the city he called home for the past 10 years. He had a right to adequate medical treatment and compassionate care. Incarceration does not strip a person of their humanity, dignity, or basic rights. Every person deserves to be treated with respect and every life has value.
