Our dear friend, Megan, and her family are facing an unimaginable journey. On April 28, 2025, their sweet 14-year-old daughter, Ellie, was admitted to HCMC after a river rescue by Minneapolis firefighters as she attempted to end her life.

Ellie suffered a multitude of injuries, including a fractured pelvis that required surgery, broken ribs, contused lungs that were filling with blood, concussion, and some damage to her spine. Ellie has had some big struggles, and yet the light of her beautiful soul shines through. She is adored by big brothers, Isaac & Luke, her big sister Hannah, her mama Megan and her dad Jeff, and countless other family members and friends. Her Grandma Terry has undoubtedly had a hand in helping her stay here.

As they face the uncertain journey ahead, we want to help lift the burden of financial worries off their shoulders so they can focus on what truly matters: cherishing precious time together and surrounding Ellie with all the love she deserves.

Funds raised will help cover mounting medical expenses, recovery, rehabilitation, ongoing behavioral health support, meals, time away from work, and any other support the Showalters need during this unimaginable time.
