Hello everyone,

My dear friend Ella is having a very rough go at the moment.

On May 5th, Ella was admitted into the ICU at the Montreal General Hospital after her transplanted kidney, received in 2013, began to fail. The kidney rejection led to a series of severe and life-threatening complications, including fluid in the lungs, heart failure, blood clots in the bladder, dangerously high blood pressure, and severe anemia.

The good news is she is stabilizing and is now out of the ICU. However, it is unclear when her life can return to any level of normalcy. She is currently on dialysis, her mobility is minimal, she remains extremely immunocompromised and will require another kidney transplant. It is unknown when she will be discharged but hopefully soon.

These unfortunate medical circumstances have created a major financial strain. Ella has not been at her job long enough to qualify for Employment Insurance. There is growing concern about keeping up with rent, bills, food, and other essential living expenses while she remains in the hospital, and the continued recovery afterward. In addition, her family members have been rotating making the costly trek between New Brunswick and Montreal to keep her company.

We are asking for support to help Ella avoid losing her apartment and to ease some of the financial burden caused by this unexpected medical crisis. The funds raised will go towards rent and bill payments, expenses accrued from this situation, and travel costs.
