Today, I had a DoorDash delivery from an elderly woman who had only recently started delivering as a way to earn extra income. When Karyn Domingue arrived, there had been a mix-up with my order, and she was visibly overwhelmed, shaken up, and emotional. Even though the issue wasn’t entirely her fault, she went above and beyond to make it right. Her kindness, effort, and determination in that moment really stuck with me. It was heartbreaking to realize that someone at her stage in life feels the need to DoorDash just to help cover living expenses. No one who has spent a lifetime working should have to take on physically demanding gig work just to get by. I’m starting this fundraiser to help ease some of her financial burden and, hopefully, give her a little breathing room — whether that means helping with groceries, utilities, rent, or simply allowing her to step back from delivery work.
