Good morning
Asking for a prayer request from our friends & family.
On 12/23/25 we found out our beloved friend, our companion, our first fur baby Duey was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer. Currently he has a few weeks left with us and will be making his journey soon to the other side.
At this time we are just keeping him as comfortable as possible and feeding him endless amounts of pup cups, meats, berries, treats, and anything else his heart desires.
We rescued Duey from the Humane Society of Pulaski County when we lived in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was about 7 years old and had been brought back to the shelter many times due to his size and breed. No one wanted to “deal” with him. We knew he was the one for us when we met him. We moved out of an apartment into a house to give him space and his own yard. We got our first Subaru to accommodate our big boy. We adopted Nelson shortly after to have as a companion (quickly that turned into his annoying little brother.) Duey has always been our old familiar friend. A known soul, a sacred bond, a everlasting friendship since we met him
Duey was our first dog as a couple, our first dog as individuals - adults learning to navigate adult world.
He’s lived through all of our good and bad days.
He’s taught me how to be more compassionate, patient, and kind. He made my heart grow and love more when I didn’t know it was possible.
We ask for prayers in this time of transition for our fur baby, Duey. That his passing and transition is easy and gentle on him. That he feels loved, complete, whole. We ask for prayers for our family in our own time of transition - losing a loved one, a fur baby, Nelson losing his brother, and for that space that we will hold and honor when it is time and afterwards.
If you would like to honor Duey, and help our family during this time with donating to his passing and the after care that comes with this journey it is more than appreciated. We thank you with our whole hearts. Our goal is set to $450 to cover costs of an in home euthanasia service for Duey. This will cover a doctor, a nurse, and the medication to make this transition for him.
We then plan to have a private memorial for him and have him laid to rest at Blue Star in West Point, Texas.
Thank you for taking this time to read this and for praying for our family.
All the Love,
The Elrod's
(Bo, Emma, Duey, Nelson, and Tuna ❤️)
