Drew is a military veteran who has proudly and boldly served our country. He joined the Army after high school. Shortly after enlisting Drew was deployed to aid in Operation: Iraqi Freedom. Then in 2018, a few months after marrying his wife Christa, he was deployed again, this time to Kuwait. In early 2021, Drew honorably retired from the military.
In mid-May of 2021, Drew was hospitalized for Guillian-Barre Syndrome (GBS). It is a progressive peripheral nerve disorder that causes total body paralysis. While he is expected to make a full recovery, there is no telling how long it will take.
Currently, Drew is receiving treatment for GBS at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. Prior to being transferred, he was at United Hospital in St. Paul where his breathing became affected which resulted in him being placed on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma for 7 days.
The family has received an outpouring of love and support from friends and family in the form of assisting with yard work, light house cleaning and occasional day care for their infant son Maximus (Max) and their dog Surrey.
However, as a result of all this, Drew's wife Christa has taken time off work in order to meet his needs as well as care for Max. It has taken a financial toll as Christa is not receiving any pay at this time and Drew’s benefits do not cover all their monthly expenses. They are humbly asking for your financial assistance to cover some of the strain of lost wages.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any financial contribution you are able to make. It truly makes a difference as does your healing thoughts and get well wishes for the Carpenters.
