Over the past year, Dr. Karyn Gunnet-Shovals' family has faced an overwhelming series of hardships. While one of her children was undergoing cancer treatment, her husband was also diagnosed with cancer. Tragically, she recently lost her husband to the disease.

In addition to grieving the loss of her partner, Dr. Gunnet-Shoval is continuing to care for her children while navigating ongoing emotional, medical, and financial challenges.
