As some of you may know, in March of last year my husband Doug had a massive heart attack. The type of heart attack he had is called a “widow maker,” meaning he had a complete blockage of blood flow to the front, side, and middle of his heart. By the grace of God, he survived and was able to return to work as a paramedic just two months after recovering. Doug has been a paramedic serving our community for over 30 years, dedicating his life to helping others in their times of need. Doug was back on the job saving other people’s lives for two months when, on a call, he was severely injured and required spinal surgery. The injury happened in June of last year, and he’s been out of work since. His short-term disability ended in November, and after a failed spinal surgery in October, he now needs a second surgery that has yet to be approved by workers' comp.

During this time, I have been Doug’s primary caregiver, taking time from work to get him to all of his doctors' appointments and support his recovery. This has impacted my own work and income, and with only a fraction of what we used to earn, I am struggling to stay afloat. With no end in sight, I am humbly asking for help again. The funds raised will help us cover our mortgage payments, medical bills, and other essential living expenses so we don’t lose our home. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
