Douglas Chapman is my father, and he’s always been the heart of our family. He taught me to fish, play guitar, and find joy in every moment, no matter the circumstances. His love for hiking, fishing, and camping inspired me to appreciate nature and cherish the memories we made together. Douglas showed me what it means to be strong, compassionate, and to care deeply for the world around us.
This past December, just before Christmas, Douglas suffered a sudden brain bleed caused by a rapidly expanding tumor. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency brain surgery, and although his chances were slim, he miraculously survived. Since then, he has lost almost all mobility on his right side. We soon learned that he has four more tumors in his brain and another in his esophagus. Because he is now too weak and frail, chemotherapy and radiation are not options. Doctors have told us we may only have a few months left with him, and hospice has been called in to help.
Last week, Douglas lost all mobility on his right side, leading to another emergency room visit. We discovered that his tumors have grown and new ones have appeared. His health is declining rapidly, and we are doing everything we can to keep him comfortable and surrounded by love. I am starting this GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and any unpaid medical bills, so we can focus on honoring Douglas and supporting him in his final days. Any support you can give would mean the world to us. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
