Doug Zumwalt was my best friend for over 20 years, and anyone who knew him would agree he was a truly great guy. He was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, always ready to listen without judgment and offer support whenever it was needed. Doug was married to Edith since 2009, and together they built a life filled with love and friendship. He became close friends with Steve, someone I’ve known most of my life, and their bond was a testament to Doug’s ability to bring people together. Doug was always the life of the party, friendly to everyone, and never afraid to speak his mind. He meant so much to me and my kids, and his presence brightened every room he entered.

Over the past year and a half, Doug bravely fought lung cancer. He faced countless challenges, and the chemotherapy treatments became increasingly difficult. Despite everything, Doug remained strong and continued to be there for those he loved. His passing has left a huge void in our lives, and we want to honor his memory by helping Edith through this tough time.

We are raising funds to cover the remaining cremation costs at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Missouri, and to provide a little extra support for Edith as she navigates the days ahead. If you knew Doug, you loved him—he touched so many lives and was a wonderful husband to Edith.
