On July 12th, my dad, Donny Hankey, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. He suffered a traumatic brain injury that has presented him with a long unknown road to recovery.
To say it’s been a rollercoaster is an understatement. He has faced reinjuries and unexpected complications that continue to present new challenges. Through it all, having family close by has been essential to ensuring he receives the best possible care and has someone there to advocate for him during this time when he cannot advocate for himself.
My grandma, Laura Kitchen, is that person that has been by his side. She has been living out of her motorhome, with her own mother, so that she can stay close to Donny and be involved in, and advocate for, his care and recovery. With the cold months ahead, she will need to find temporary housing in the Coeur d’Alene area to remain close to him.
I am raising money to help cover travel, temporary housing, and the unexpected expenses that come with this difficult life transition for both my grandmother and my dad.
Our family believes deeply in the power of community, love, and showing up for one another. We do not take the graciousness of others for granted and are grateful for every dollar, share, and prayer that our community has to offer.
Thank you for supporting my dad and my grandma during this difficult time. Every bit of help means more than you know.
