Support for Donna and Leroy Mitchell

Hello,

My name is Cheryl Lopez. I am the twin sister of Donna Mitchell. It is hard to believe you have been gone a week already.

We are starting a GoFundMe for Donna Mitchell, who suddenly passed away on January 8th, 2025, at the age of 68, and Leroy Mitchell, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer. It is uncertain how much longer Leroy will be with us.

We would like to raise funds to facilitate the burial expenses for Donna and prepay for Leroy's burial expenses. We don't want Leroy to have this worrisome burden weighing him down while he is in the battle of fighting cancer. Funds will also help with his travels to and from his doctor's appointments.

Both Donna and Leroy are what you can call homesteaders of the city of Ridgecrest, CA. They met, fell in love, and have been married for 35 years.

Donna moved to Ridgecrest in 1957 at the age of 1 year old along with her twin sister Cheryl and parents Bill & Joann Shepard. Donna went to school through the Sierra Sands School District and worked at NAWS and Drummond Medical Group for many years until she became disabled and became a homemaker years to follow until her death.

Donna was a very loving, caring, and giving person. If someone needed help, she was there.

Donna was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and a friend.

Donna loved spending time with the love of her life, her husband Leroy of 35 years, and family and friends.

Leroy retired a couple of years back only to find out he has lung cancer about a year or so after retirement. Leroy served in the military service and worked for NAWS for 40+ years.

With losing Donna so fast and so unexpectedly, this has been a devastating blow to our family. Our family is adjusting to her loss and living without her. She was truly one of a kind.

With the sudden loss of Donna, we are wanting to pre-plan for the loss of Leroy when his time comes. I hope you can find it in your heart to help support us in laying Donna to rest and, when Leroy's time comes, to be able to lay him to rest with Donna.

We hope and pray that we reach our goal in order to lay Donna to rest now and Leroy when his time comes.
