Our daughter Dolly was born at just 34 weeks and 4 days, arriving unexpectedly via emergency C-section after I developed pre-eclampsia. When she was born, she had a lot of fluid in her lungs and was rushed straight to the NICU. Her first night was spent with a breathing tube, and then she was placed on a CPAP machine the next day. After a few days, she was able to come off the CPAP, and at three days old, she was moved from NICU 1 to NICU 2. Dolly has made so many improvements in her short time, but she still has a long way to go. She is now five days old and in her own patient room on the NICU floor, but she continues to struggle with eating. She has a feeding tube and is mainly eating through that, since she isn’t able to take a bottle well yet. The doctors say she won’t be discharged until she can eat a total of 36 ml or 150 in a 12-hour shift, and we just aren’t there yet. We have no idea when she might be able to come home, and even after discharge, she will still need help and support. This experience has been overwhelming, and the costs are adding up quickly. The funds raised will help cover Dolly’s medical expenses, travel to and from the hospital, ongoing medical bills, and the loss of work income while we focus on her care. Any support means the world to us as we navigate this difficult journey. We are grateful for any help you can offer to Dolly and our family.
