Hi! My name is Arpan.. I have been lucky to be called Dipak's friend and a family member.
It is with the heaviest hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Dipak Mehta. On October 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Dipak passed away. He was only 43.
He was a cherished son, brother, loving husband, and a doting father to two very young boys, aged 4 and 6.
An Unbreakable Spirit
Dipak’s strength was an inspiration to us all. While his battle with cancer had begun a while ago, his journey took a sharp, brutal detour in April of this year.
It started with a fractured L1 vertebra, requiring major surgery on his spine. This was cruelly followed by a fracture to his C1 vertebra in his neck. Soon after, he suffered a fractured rib from a seizure. His fight continued as blood clots caused a devastating brain stroke, resulting in a loss of vision and dementia.
In a final, heartbreaking blow, his femur snapped into two pieces, requiring one last major surgery just a week ago.
Through all of this, his positive spirit was unbreakable. He faced every setback with the incredible belief that "it is just a phase and this shall pass too." His love for life, travel, and camping was so strong that even with so much illness and discomfort, he was determined to join his family for camping during the October long weekend, creating one last precious memory.
A Cruel Twist of Fate
What many may not know is the cruel timing that defined Dipak's battle. He was a healthy young man. His diagnosis—Stage 4 ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer—was only discovered unexpectedly during a routine medical x-ray required for his Permanent Residency application.
Because of this diagnosis, Dipak was tragically ineligible for life insurance, TPD (Total and Permanent Disability), or income protection.
Despite his terminal illness, Dipak continued to work until March of this year, determined to provide for his family. He and his wife stretched every resource to manage the overwhelming out-of-pocket medical expenses from his long fight.
While his residency was eventually approved, it was too late to get the insurance cover he so desperately wanted to protect his family's future.
How You Can Help
Dipak leaves behind his wonderful wife and two young sons, who now face a future without their rock and provider.
Because of the years of overwhelming out-of-pocket medical expenses, the family has been unable to save. Now, this grieving young family is left with a home loan and a car loan, burdens that are incredibly difficult to manage on a single income in Dipak's absence.
The weight of their loss is also felt in so many other heartbreaking ways.
This December, he would have turned 44. It’s a birthday he uniquely shared with his elder son. What was once a day of special, shared celebration will now be forever marked by his absence. As his son grows older, his family will face the painful annual reminder that the number of candles on their cakes will never again be the same.
That void will be felt again this November. Dipak was a huge cricket fan and was so excited to see India take on Australia in the T20 matches. The tickets he bought will now go unused, and his seat will be painfully empty.
We are now asking for help from our friends, family, and the greater community. This fundraiser is to provide a financial cushion for his grieving family, helping to secure the future for his wife and young children as they navigate this new and difficult reality.
Dipak was always there for us when we needed him. He was the first to offer help, a kind word, or a joke to make us smile.
Now it's our time to be there for him and his family.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference. All funds will go directly to Dipak's wife to help cover immediate costs and provide stability for their boys.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
