Support for Dionte and Family: beat cancer!

Dionte is 15 years old and has just been diagnosed with Cancer: Subcutaneous Panniculitis-like T-cell Lymphoma (SPTCL) with the complication of Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

Symptoms began back in November starting with a few lumps under the skin. His primary doctor began investigating and referred him to several specialists. Dionte was diagnosed with HLH and admitted to Rady Children’s Hospital in January, where he underwent scans, biopsies, and multiple bone marrow aspirations. He just finished 8 weeks of treatment for HLH: chemo and steroids. Two days later, the HLH returned and he is back in the hospital for the 5th time. Through further genome testing, a definitive diagnosis has finally come to light. We found out yesterday he will be fighting a rare cancer, SPTCL. He will need 6 months or more of aggressive chemo and a bone marrow transplant after.

Funds will help him and his family through the next 6 months or more. Dionte’s mom (my sister) and his dad are taking turns being in-room with him since only one visitor is allowed at a time, because of the covid outbreak. The Ronald McDonald house is also closed due to the pandemic social distancing practice. Currently, my sister is working remotely on her computer in a truck parked nearby and in D’s hospital room. Dionte’s dad has been laid off because of the pandemic. If anyone has a motor home to lend so his parents can park near the hospital and have a space to be with Dionte’s 11 yr old sister while taking turns, please reach out to me!

Thank you for taking time to read about Dionte and what he is going through. He is a strong young man and he is ready to fight! Please pray for him and our family during this time!
