On February 1st 2017 it started off as a regular day of work for Dillon until the unthinkable happened. He was at his first job of the day. While his co-worker was in the client's house speaking to the homeowner, Dillon began to set up a ladder as he's done hundreds of times before. However on this particular day there was a light coating of snow on the ground from the day before resulting in the ground surface to be a bit more slippery. After the ladder was setup, Dillon prodeeded to climb the ladder to get a visual of the chimney's condition. After climbing only about 10ft off the ground, his ladder gave out from under him resulting in Dillon landing on the hard stone patio.
Upon his fall, Dillon experienced immediate pain to his wrist, head and back. He acquired a large gash above his eye and it was apparent he needed to go straight to the hospital. An ambulance was called and after arriving at the hospital many tests were conducted. It was then determined that that Dillon had suffered a broken wrist, he would need staples to close the wound on his head and worst of all he fractured four vertebrae in his spine that would require urgent surgery. A surgery of this magnitude is quite complex and would require the use of pins, rods and plates to be inserted.
As you can imagine Dillon most certainly will have a long road to recovery which can take several months. Although Dillon would be covered under his employers workers compensation policy, it will not be suffucient to cover all of Dillons everyday expenses. Dillon is a young man of only 22yrs old who describes himself as an avid hunter and fisherman who loves the outdoors and riding his motorcycle. We're hopeful that with the help of his family, friends, time and healing Dillon can go back to doing the things he loves...
