As most of you may know, I am currently on dialysis. In 2021, I was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease. When I was diagnosed, I spent 15 days in the hospital as they worked on stabilizing me since I was in critical condition. But thanks be to God who kept me and gave me strength to fight. To be honest, I thought I had been handed my death sentence. I had never been so afraid in my life. I held on to my faith knowing that if God had kept me this long, He would see me through, and I truly believe that He will fulfill His promise to bring me back to health. I believe the time is coming near when I will get my transplant and I will be able to share my testimony of what God has done for me. I will never forget that day, 12/27/2021. Doctors did not think I would survive, but God had other plans. I will live to fulfill my purpose. This journey has not been easy, but I’m fighting through it. I continue to work, although some days are harder than others, and I often find myself calling out sick because my energy levels fluctuate and it makes it hard to get up some days. I continue to lean on God and do all I can to push through every day. I started out on hemodialysis 3x a week, and that was taking a toll on me, so I started peritoneal dialysis at home, and although it's 7 days a week, it has been much easier on me physically and mentally. Anxiety is definitely something I battle daily. As I continue to fight the disease, I want you all to know that it’s important to see your doctors. It’s important to get your blood work done. Uncontrolled high blood pressure damaged my kidneys; this is more common than we imagine.
I am currently trying to raise funds to help with the expenses I will be facing soon as I go through transplant surgery. The average wait time is 3 1/2 to 5 years, and I have been on the list for 3 1/2 years come June, so I believe my time is approaching. Although it’s sad that someone has to lose their life, I am eternally thankful for organ donors because they will save my life. The funds collected will help with my travel, lodging, food, and bills I will incur during my stay. I am currently on the Tampa General list as well as the Mayo Clinic list. I’m expected to remain at the location that calls first for approximately 4 weeks, which means I will have to cover my lodging costs, travel to and from clinic, food, etc., and I am expected to have a caretaker 24 hours daily for the duration of my recovery. They say with no complications, recovery will be 6 weeks. Although that does not sound long, when expenses are building and accommodation expenses, it can get stressful. Therefore, I’m trying to save as much as I can and asking for any donations. No amount is too small. Please share my story; it may help save someone from enduring this disease. If anyone has questions, please feel free to message me.
