Support for Detective Terrique Chambers and Family
Detective Terrique Chambers underwent a medical screening which revealed an undetected medical concern. He recently underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor, discovered thanks to said visit. As the sole provider for his family, which includes his wife, three sons, and a daughter—two of whom are on the autism spectrum—he has always balanced his dedication to both his family and his service to the City of Boston.
While Terrique is currently using his own sick time, he will be out of work for at least five months, with an exact return date still uncertain. Friends, colleagues, and community members have asked how they can show their support during this period, and this page was created to provide that opportunity.
Terrique has voiced one request: he has asked that his experience serve as a reminder to all of his fellow officers and colleagues in the department. He stated, "Our work can be extremely stressful, and while we're focused on solving problems for others, it's easy to neglect our own health." He is encouraging every member of the department to consider getting the same type of blood work that detected his tumor, as catching something early could save a life.
