My name is Derrick Gordon, and I have been battling End Stage Renal Disease since the age of 20, over a decade. I received my first kidney transplant as a young man hoping for a fresh start, but due to an unexpected blood clotting disorder, that kidney failed. Today, I am once again waiting and praying for a new kidney—and a chance to reclaim my health.
Over the years, Derrick has endured more than most people face in a lifetime. He has required multiple hospitalizations, long courses of strong IV antibiotics, and several fistula access surgeries, with the most recent one placed in his thigh. Despite all of this, Derrick remains determined and resilient. He Normally works six days a week, even on the exhausting days when he has to undergo hemodialysis. His strength is something that inspires everyone who knows him. Renal Kidney disease has impacted his life drastically .
Derrick is the only child of both his mother and father, and tragically, both parents have passed away. But he does have his loving wife—and together, they are expecting their baby boy, who is due very soon. Derrick wants more than anything to be healthy enough and financially stable to watch his son grow, to be present, and to be the father he never had the chance to have himself.
With the upcoming kidney transplant, Derrick will face weeks of inpatient care, time away from work, strict recovery requirements, and the need to stay close to the transplant center. He will also need lifelong transplant medications, frequent follow-up appointments, and ongoing medical support. His recent hospitalizations have already caused significant financial strain, and the road ahead is even more demanding.
We are asking for your help please —whether through donations, sharing this page, or keeping Derrick in your prayers. Every contribution will go directly toward his medical bills, transplant-related expenses, lost wages during recovery, and preparing for the arrival of his baby boy.
Derrick has fought courageously for years, and now we are fighting alongside him. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for supporting him during one of the most challenging—and most hopeful—moments of his life.
Your kindness brings Derrick one step closer to a healthy future with his family.
