In early December 2022, my uncle, Derek Turmenne, a 48-year-old father of 2 teenage girls, received some shocking and unexpected news. Derek began experiencing sudden and intense abdominal pain. After undergoing numerous tests, doctors discovered he had a large mass on his colon that had attached itself to his small intestine. He underwent emergency surgery on December 16th.

After the surgery, Derek was informed that, due to the unexpected complexity of the surgery, he would be unable to return to work for a minimum of 3 months. As an independent, self-employed construction laborer, this means no form of unemployment, medical, or disability income.

Derek continues to wait for the pathology results to determine his medical diagnosis and course of treatment. Please help us to lessen Derek's financial burden while he waits for next steps so that he can focus on taking care of himself and getting healthy.
