Hi all-

I never thought I’d be the one setting up an account like this…. But I know firsthand how impactful these fundraisers can be.

The morning of May 9, 2023- Derek and Emily received a call from daycare that Henrik had fallen and hit his head.

Moments later, he was rushed via ambulance to Children’s hospital for emergency brain surgery to remove a subdural hematoma from the right side of his brain. With the surgery, a portion of his skull was also removed and left out due to swelling.

The news about the damage to the right side of his brain hasn’t been great- but there is still so much unknown.

As of today, May 14, Henrik is still sedated and on a ventilator. His medical team is hopeful to start weaning medications and ventilation next week. So many prayers are needed for everyone involved with his care.

Derek and Emily have rarely left Henrik side. The road ahead will be long and they need all the support they can get as they navigate this challenge.

With the medical care required, time missed from work, meals, driving back and forth to the hospital, etc., etc….. the bills will undoubtedly pile up.

Derek and Emily have enough worry weighing on their hearts. Let’s lift that burden with our support. If you can find it in your heart to support this fund financially- we all would be forever grateful.
