Hi everyone, my name is Denny Cole, and I hate to even have to do this, but my family is going through the hardest time it has ever faced.

My father, Dennis, was diagnosed with a mass between his eardrum and his brain, and a week and a half later, my mother was diagnosed with a huge tumor in her bladder, uterus, and partial colon, and it's getting bigger every day. She had tubes put into her kidneys, and something went wrong. They ended up growing two different types of bacteria, which sent her into sepsis and then septic shock on the 13th of December, and we've been in the ICU ever since.

My mom is the strongest woman that I know, but the doctors have given me a realistic prognosis, and it's not good. She's one of my closest friends, and she's just a great mom! I love her so much, and this is the worst period of my life up to this point. Trying to travel back and forth from home to Kalamazoo each and every day, and all of the doctor's appointments before and after this with both of my parents, has been very hard but also very costly.

They say that I am gonna lose my mom to this because the sepsis has been shutting down her vital organs. Today, she was put on a ventilator and started dialysis. The doctor has told me her body won't be able to handle the chemo and radiation after this, so they're telling me that she is losing her battle, and she is losing it quicker than anyone expected.

I haven't given up on her, nor will I. As long as she's willing to fight, I will be fighting with her, but I have had to take the entire month off from work with a few FMLA days here and a couple of vacation days there, and the financial burden is getting very heavy.

I'm not the type to ask for a handout, but if things go the way they're expecting to go, I don't know what I'm gonna do. Neither of my parents have life insurance, and the burden will be on my sister and me, and it's scary when we are both already struggling. I wouldn't wish this nightmare upon anyone, not even my worst enemy. My mom has spent her entire life caring for others and putting others before herself, and she doesn't deserve any of this.

I'm trying my best to raise the money for the things that she and my father will need in the coming days and months. Again, I hate even doing this, but this last month has really been hard financially, and the future will be even harder if what they're telling me to expect comes to pass.

I'm asking for help for them, not for myself. I will spend every last dollar I have to get them where they need to be and to get them taken care of if and when the time comes, but I'm doing my best to not think of that. Each and every day, my hopes get a little more darkened by the reality of all of this. I apologize to anyone that didn't know that this was going on. It's been a nightmare just trying to get through it day by day, and I'm truly sorry if I haven't kept you informed, but again, I'm doing everything I can to just get through this myself.

Being that it's Christmas, I understand if you can't donate to this cause, but if you could just share it, I'd be forever grateful. To each that does help by sharing or donating, I want you to know that I won't forget your kindness, and I ask for your prayers for my entire family through this process, especially my mom. She needs them the most. She's such a special lady, and she's one of my closest friends, and I will hopefully be able to repay your kindness in one way or another. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
