My name is Tyler, the son of Denise Wirth. For those who know my mom personally, I don’t really need to explain the kind of person she is. For those who don’t, she has the biggest heart, never says no, and has been involved with so many groups throughout her life—church, missions, non-profits, wellness coaching—on top of her full-time job at a private dental practice. Over the last several years, she has given so much of her time for others. Now it’s her time to take care of herself.
In early December, my mother was rushed to the ER and sent home with a diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. A few weeks later, we took her back to the ER and found out she was in liver failure. Doctors said the chemo was going to be a 'Hail Mary,' and if you know my mom and her love of the game of football, you know she wanted to take the chance. Family and friends are by her bedside daily, cheering her on.
For as long as many of us have known her, my mom has been the person showing up for everyone else. Whether she was participating in local organizations or simply being the first to offer a helping hand to someone in need, her life has been defined by a 'big heart' philosophy. She has never been one to sit on the sidelines when there was a way to help someone else. Today, however, she is facing her own Everest, and the woman who spent her life caring for the community now requires that same community to stand beside her.
As she navigates this incredibly difficult medical journey, the mounting costs of specialized care, daily support, medication, and treatment are a burden no family should carry alone. By contributing to this fund, you are helping provide her with the comfort and dignity she deserves during this fight. It is our turn to be the strength for someone who has been the backbone for so many of us, ensuring she feels the same warmth and support she has so freely given away for years.
Please share this post, and feel free to write messages directly to her here—I read them to her daily. Let’s root for her together! I will provide updates when I can. Thank you.
