Hello Family and Friends,
The Kover family, Rick, Denise, Alia, and Maia from Niles, Ohio have been fighting an unimaginable battle together.
On November 23, 2020, Denise Kover tested positive for COVID-19. Denise's symptoms worsened and on December 4, 2020, she was hospitalized. Today, Denise is at the Cleveland Clinic fighting to get back home. Rick has been by her side every possible moment he is permitted.
Denise's journey from December 4th, to where she is today has been miraculous. Her family would like to share a bit of that journey with you.
12/09/20 Denise was admitted to the Intensive Care ICU and placed on a ventilator. Hospital protocol did not allow anyone, including her family, to be by her side.
12/12/20 Rick received a phone call from Denise's doctor saying that she may not make it.
12/29/20 Denise was moved out of ICU to a long-term acute care facility.
01/05/21 Denise was moved back to ICU.
01/15/21 Her right lung collapsed in the morning. In the evening, Rick was called and was told that Denise may not make it.
01/17/21 Rick, Alia, and Maia are allowed to visit in person with Denise for the first time.
02/05/21 She was able to come off the ventilator.
02/06/21 Trach size reduced so that she would be able to speak with the valve.
02/07/21 Denise was able to eat.
02/08/21 She was moved to the Cleveland Clinic ICU for further evaluation.
02/15/21 Denise was moved out of ICU to a step-down floor for further evaluation of lung damage.
02/20/21 Today, Denise is still at the Cleveland Clinic. After additional evaluation, the goal of her medical team is to hopefully be able to move her to a rehabilitation facility in Cleveland in the upcoming week.
Kara (Kover) Limongi, Rick's sister, and I, Denise's best friend, are establishing this account as a place to raise support for the Kover family during this critical time. We want Rick to be able to be by Denise's side as much as possible. Support raised will help the family with any additional expenses that arise, such as hotel accommodations, travel expenses, meals, etc.
Once Denise comes home, funds can go towards making necessary renovations to the Kover home to accommodate Denise's needs.
Denise is a true fighter. She has what it takes to get through this battle. As one of her friends described her, she is made of grit and grace. God has brought her this far for a reason and we want Rick and the girls to be able to pour their energy into getting Denise home. Let's put our support behind this beautiful family that we all know and love.
Kara and I will be posting updates on Denise's progress through this site.
Thank you so much and please keep the Kover family close to your heart and in your prayers. God, grit, and grace will bring her home.
All our Love,
Heather and Kara
