Support for Denise Blase

As some of you may know, our dear friend Denise Blase has been dealing with an incredibly challenging situation for the past 8 months. Her parents, who live in Suisun City, are both in need of in-home care, and are unable to provide for themselves beyond the meager benefits they receive. Denise has been living with them and taking care of them since May. She has only been able to see her own family for limited visits, save for a short period of time when her mother was in the hospital and she was able to bring her father to stay with her family in San Francisco. Denise has been desperately trying to get assistance from social services and has so far been able to make very little progress in that area. In addition to caring for her parents, Denise has also been teaching remotely. Because of her employee status she doesn’t qualify for family leave, let alone paid family leave, and she is now in danger of losing her job next semester when her classes are due to start meeting in person. As you can imagine, this has taken a profound emotional toll on Denise and her family. Your donations will allow Denise to temporarily hire some in-home help to take care of her parents and give her a desperately needed break. Hopefully we can raise enough to hire an eldercare consultant to help her navigate the public health system, and she can ultimately get back home to her family and her life.
