My uncle bear passed and shortly after his wife Dena Baker.

This is a message from Diana Baker’s daughter Waniesha Ortiz.

“I don’t even know where to begin…

Our family is completely heartbroken. In such a short time, we have lost my mom, Dena Baker, and her husband Bear. The pain of losing one parent is unimaginable—losing two, back to back, feels unbearable.

My mom lived a life that wasn’t always kind to her. She faced struggles, battles, and heartbreak that many people never saw. But she was still my mom. She was still loved. And she still deserved more time.

After already grieving the tragic loss of Bear—who was taken suddenly in a motorcycle accident when someone swerved into his lane—we are now facing the reality of laying them both to rest.

What hurts even more is knowing the two boys they were raising, Sage and Ray, are now left without both of their parents. Our hearts ache for them in a way words can’t fully explain.

Right now, we are asking for help. We are trying to come together as a family while also facing the financial burden of two funerals at once. If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it would help ease some of this weight during a time when everything already feels so heavy.

I have some amazing cousins that are really stepping up.

They are taking this on.

They already had families of their own to support.

I applaud their bravery and their ability to step up in the most challenging times.

Today I’m asking our communities to come together and help my cousin's with an opportunity to sit down and grieve properly.

Taking away some of the financial burden is huge.

They have not had an opportunity to sit in their own thoughts as they scramble to pull everything together and respond to everyone who has reached out.
