In January of this year, Thalia Maudsley and her husband, Daryl, received heartbreaking news that no parent ever wants to hear. Their beloved 3-year-old son, Declan, was found to have a 12-inch tumor in his leg and has since been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Since that day, Declan has been bravely fighting. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and receiving blood injections multiple times a week. Despite all of the treatments, doctors have told the family that Declan will need to undergo amputation surgery and will lose his leg. In addition, the cancer has spread to Declan's left upper and lower lung.

Those who know Thalia know what an incredibly kind and selfless person she is. Both Thalia and Daryl are retired police officers who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting others. As their only child, Declan is the light of their lives—a joyful, spirited little boy who brings happiness to everyone he meets. Now, as they focus all their energy on Declan's care and recovery, they are facing one of the hardest moments of their lives and need the support of their community.
