Deborah, known to many as Debbie, is the heart of our family and a devoted member of her church community. Her warmth, generosity, and sense of humor have always brought comfort to those around her. Over the past six months, our lives have changed dramatically as she faced a series of unexpected and overwhelming health challenges.
It began when Deborah suddenly lost her ability to walk, relying first on crutches and then a wheelchair. After countless doctor visits, we learned that her 2019 hip replacement had failed, causing her severe pain and immobility. On May 21, 2025, she underwent surgery to replace the failed hip, but doctors discovered a large mass in her hip that prevented the new replacement from fitting properly. The mass was later diagnosed as malignant, and Deborah is now facing both cancer treatment and the need for another complex hip surgery. She is receiving care at Montefiore in the Bronx, far from our home in upstate New York, and has been transferred between hospitals and rehabilitation centers, enduring pain and long stretches away from home.
Our family has been by her side every step of the way, traveling back and forth to support her through each procedure and treatment. The costs of medical care, travel, gas, tolls, parking, food, and hotel stays have quickly become overwhelming.
We are doing everything we can to keep Deborah’s spirits up and ensure she is never alone, but we need extra help to get through this difficult time. Any support will help us cover these mounting expenses and allow us to focus on Deborah’s recovery and well-being as a family.
