Support for Debbie Slack Family Memorial

In the span of just months, we've lost two incredible family members who meant the world to us: The latest is Debbie Slack, my beloved sister—a trauma nurse whose compassion touched countless lives. Debbie had devoted 30 years to Children's Health Dallas, rising from the front lines of pediatric trauma to administration, where becoming a legal consultant for the hospital was her heart's desire. As that fulfilling chapter drew to a close, they left behind their Red Oak home and the community that had shaped them, carrying heavy hearts for the familiar world they knew. In that moment of transition, our family drew close: My brother, his wife Esther, my wife Terry, and I rallied to bring them to El Paso for a hopeful new start. For over a year, they poured their hearts into this fresh chapter, leaning on their deep partnership and our unwavering love to embrace what lay ahead—reminding us all that even with shadows behind, the Lord has a plan forward!

Debbie, ever the fighter and caregiver, came to live with us after the death of her husband, leaning on our love as she grieved. She was the kind of person who lit up rooms—always likeable, always the first to lend a hand or a listening ear. As a nurse, she was a pillar for families whose children faced unimaginable crises amid pediatric emergencies, holding space for the hurting with unwavering grace and grit. Her willingness to help others wasn't just her job; it was her soul. And then on November 28, 2025—just last week—Debbie followed, her grief's quiet battle finally overwhelming her resilient spirit. Losing both of them in such a short amount of time has been devastating for our family. Both of our families could use support to rebuild from lost wages and expenses incurred.

We are reaching out for help to cover funeral expenses, flowers, travel for family members to El Paso, and to help my brother, his wife, my wife, and me recover from lost wages and extra household expenses. Any support you can offer—whether through a donation or by sharing our story—means the world to us. Thank you for helping us honor Debbie and Ike, and for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time.
