Support for Dayna and the Toye Gate Family

Donation protected
My name is Kevin Weenk and I am Dayna’s brother-in-law. On August 27th, Dayna’s life took an unexpected turn. She rushed to the ER with severe abdominal pain, and within just 25 minutes, she lost the ability to move her legs. The paralysis soon spread to her chest. After numerous tests, Dayna was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a rare condition causing inflammation in her spinal cord, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. Even more frustrating, the doctors are still unsure of the cause.
Dayna has dedicated over 16 years of her life to nursing. She has worked in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit in Regina, served as a resource nurse in 5A Neurosciences, and most recently, she took on the role of Nurse Manager for 3F Cardiosciences and Post Coronary Intervention Recovery Unit. Now, she finds herself a patient in the same Neurosciences unit where she once cared for others.
This sudden and life-altering condition has been especially difficult for Dayna as a single mother of two. Dayna shares the care of her children, Noa (5) and Knox (3), with her co-parent, Missy Gate. While Dayna focuses on her recovery, Missy has taken on full responsibility for their kids. Despite the support of friends and family, this situation has been overwhelming for everyone involved.
Life doesn’t stop when someone falls ill. Bills continue to come in, and that’s why we’re turning to the community for support. Dayna faces a long road to recovery, which will likely involve months of rehabilitation and ongoing care. Dayna and Missy are both the type of people who would give their last dollar to help others. For years, Dayna has been a devoted nurse, caring for her patients and loved ones with love, support and dedication.
Now it’s our turn to help Dayna and the Toye Gate family during this incredibly challenging time. Your generosity will provide them the financial support they need so Dayna can focus on healing, and Missy can focus on caring for their children.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support as Dayna and her family navigate the road ahead. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference.
