My name is Caleena, I’m writing this with a heavy heart in support for Dayla & Sierra: Fueling the Fight Against Rare Cancer
Dayla is a vibrant, beautiful 14-year-old girl with a bright future ahead of her. Those who know her know her spirit, her laugh, and her incredible resilience. However, our world was turned upside down when Dayla was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, an incredibly rare and aggressive form of bone cancer.
Dayla has already proven she is a warrior. She has bravely endured grueling rounds of chemotherapy, facing every side effect with a strength that leaves us in awe. While the chemo was a massive hurdle, her medical team has determined that the next critical step in saving her life is specialized radiation treatment.
Because this cancer is so rare, the specific radiation Dayla needs is only available at a specialized facility in Florida. This means Dayla and her mother, Sierra, must temporarily relocate to ensure Dayla gets the best chance at a cure.
Sierra is a dedicated mother who has been Dayla’s rock through every appointment and sleepless night. To provide the necessary in-home care and manage the travel for these life-saving treatments, Sierra has had to significantly cut her working hours. The combination of reduced income and the costs of travel, lodging in Florida, and out-of-pocket medical expenses will create a financial burden that no family should have to face alone.
We are asking for your support to ensure Dayla can get to Florida and receive this treatment without the added stress of financial ruin. Your donations will go directly toward: Covering the costs of staying in Florida for the duration of radiation, assisting with treatment costs not covered by insurance. As well as helping Sierra cover basic bills and groceries while her work hours are reduced.
Even if you cannot donate, please share Dayla’s story. Every share, every prayer, and every dollar brings Dayla one step closer to the healthy future she deserves.
