Scott Dawson was on his way home to his family Tuesday afternoon after a brief fishing trip to Eleuthera, Bahamas, when the plane he was a passenger on suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff and crashed into a heavily wooded area.  He was with two of his closest friends, Todd Crawford, and Danny Mcknight. There were no survivors.  All three brothers were elders in the North Spartanburg SC Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Scott was 49 and is survived by his wife, Beth, and their 3 children, Chandler, Chase, and Chloe, as well as his parents Don and Sue Dawson, and sisters, Melissa Dawson, and April Geerken. He was predeceased by his brother, Alan Dawson in 2004.

Scott was a beloved father, husband, and son; as well as a spiritual blessing to the congregation. He gave the public discourse at the N Spartanburg Hall Sunday on the topic “What Sort of Name are You Making With God?” Scott certainly had made a fine name spiritually, he was well known for being quick and attentive to provide needed encouragement and help to those in the congregation. He considered every one of them dear friends.

His family deeply appreciates all the love and support they have received during this time. Scott was the main provider for the household and was self employed. This fundraiser is intended to help stabilize the family during this great loss. Thank you.
