David Miller and his family are facing an incredibly difficult time. On Tuesday evening, David was flown to KU in Kansas City for advanced care after developing severe pneumonia and significant lung damage. The doctors have been working tirelessly, using aggressive respiratory therapies to help his lungs recover. While his pneumonia is improving, the damage and inflammation in his lungs remain a serious concern. His right lower lobe is severely affected, and the left is not far behind. The medical team is gradually reducing his ventilator support, hoping his lungs will strengthen enough to avoid a risky tracheostomy surgery. The surgeon has explained the challenges ahead, and while we remain hopeful, the road is uncertain.

Malissa is by David's side in Kansas City, facing this battle alone. Their granddaughter is in the NICU—a precious little one David has yet to meet—and another granddaughter is at home, very excited to see her Mimi this weekend and hopefully sneak into the ICU to give her Papa a kiss. Malissa unable to work during this time, the family is asking for financial help to cover travel expenses, meals, and everyday bills. Despite these hardships, David is awake and alert, showing incredible strength and determination. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers, calls, visits, and messages from friends and loved ones.
