On April 18, 2025, David Michael Konarsky ("DK", "Pops", "Papaw") passed away peacefully at his home in Dale, Texas, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.
David was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, friend, and all-around super human: kind, wise, generous, funny, creative, and strong. He loved to build and repair, and he shared his time, his tools, his knowledge, and his heart with everyone around him. Whether it was fixing a car, crafting giant sculptures for his children's school events, or mentoring someone through a tough time, David gave with his whole being.
He retired earlier this year after decades of dedicated service at Maxwell Ford in Austin, where he was well-known for his honesty, expertise, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Now, his beloved wife Dawn, is facing the immense emotional and financial weight of his loss. In addition to ongoing bills and expenses from his long battle with cancer, she's navigating this new reality without the man who always seemed to make things work, and would rather give help than ask for it.
We’re asking for your support. Any amount will help cover funeral costs, bills, and other expenses, as his family grieves and rebuilds. If you knew David, you know how much he would’ve done for anyone else in need. If you didn’t, we hope you can feel a glimpse of his light through this story.
Please donate if you’re able—and share this campaign with others. Let’s honor David’s legacy of compassion and care by showing that same kindness to the people he loved most.
Thank you so much for reading and for your support.
