Monday, February 16th at 2:01 a.m., my younger brother Dave went home to be with the Lord. What a gift it was to spend time with him and reminisce that final day. There was a deep sense of peace and joy—like heaven itself was preparing to rejoice and say, “Hallelujah! Welcome home!”

Dave’s Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, February 27th at 3:00 p.m. at the Church at Sandhurst in Florence, NC.

In my first post, I shared a photo of Dave feeding his first grandson, 3-week-old Harrison David Maxham. I have now replaced that photo with a short video of Harrison David taken on the eve of my brother’s homegoing—a small glimpse of the beautiful legacy Dave leaves behind.

We continue to be overwhelmed by the prayers, encouragement, and generosity you have shown. Your support fully covered my trip to Charleston to see my brother before he passed and even made it possible to have a 20-point inspection and vehicle prep completed for what will be more than 2,000 miles of driving. We are deeply grateful.

As we prepare to take the family to South Carolina for Dave’s Celebration of Life Service, we are asking those who feel led to consider giving $20 toward our round-trip travel, lodging, and meals.

Darlene, our daughter Abby, and I will begin driving from Allen, TX to Florence, SC on February 24th, traveling over two days and arriving the evening of February 25th. We will spend time with family, attend the service, and begin our return trip on March 1st.

Most of all, we humbly ask for your continued prayers—for Julie, the children, the grandchildren, and Dave’s church community who loved him dearly. Your prayers mean more to us than we can express.

Thank you for walking with us through this season, for loving our family, and for helping us honor Dave in a way that reflects the joy, faith, and kindness he shared so freely.
