On behalf of the family, friends and loved ones of Dave Quisumbing, thank you for the incredible outpouring of love, stories, photos, messages and support over the past several days. The response has been overwhelming in the most meaningful way and has reminded us just how many lives Dave touched across so many different communities.

To know Dave was to feel welcomed by him.

Whether you knew him as “DQ” behind the bar, through SpeedTin, Mr. Q’s BBQ and the food truck, at Bar A, Bar A, Green Rock, Park East, Headliner, The Waiting Room, Bill’s Supperclub, through CrossFit and fitness, through business and entrepreneurship, or simply as the guy who could walk into any room and somehow make everyone feel like family, Dave left a lasting impression on people everywhere he went.

Dave was a proud first-generation Filipino American, entrepreneur, inventor, creator, athlete, dreamer and connector of people. He built relationships everywhere. He remembered names, faces, drinks, conversations and stories. He checked in on people. He celebrated people. He had a rare ability to make strangers feel like old friends within minutes. He lit up every room he walked into with his positivity, warmth, energy and genuine love for people.

To his family, Dave was also David Quisumbing, the youngest of four siblings and forever “baby ‘ro” to his older sister. He was a deeply loved son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend, the kind of person who showed up for people, made them laugh, checked in unexpectedly, and made those around him feel cared for. His nieces and nephew adored him, and so many people considered him not just a friend, but family. Beneath his social presence was a truly kind, humble, generous and deeply human person.

Over the past year, Dave quietly struggled with personal challenges while continuing to pour so much of himself into the people and communities around him. While our family and everyone who loved him are devastated and still trying to process this unimaginable loss, we want the focus of this page to reflect the fullness of who Dave truly was and the extraordinary impact he had on so many lives.

This fundraiser is being created to help support memorial and celebration of life expenses, with any remaining funds donated in Dave’s honor to two causes that were deeply meaningful to him and featured on the Speed Tin website:
