Dave has been my friend for a long time, and right now he’s facing one of the toughest challenges of his life. Just four days ago, Dave went to the doctor because his jaw was swollen. He thought it might be an infected tooth, but after a trip to the ER and several tests, he received devastating news: it wasn’t his tooth at all. Instead, doctors found cancer in his sternum, and it has already spread to his face. The diagnosis has left Dave with huge obstacles ahead, and he’s still processing what this means for his future and his health.

Dave has an appointment with the oncology department this week, and it’s likely he’ll need to start treatment very soon. He’s worked for the rodeo in Fruita for years, but with winter here, work has been scarce and his bills are stacking up quickly. Right now, Dave needs to focus all his energy on surviving and getting through treatment, but the financial stress is making everything harder.
