Support for Dave Parks Recovery
Donation protected
Last Monday, June 5th, my brother-in-law Dave Parks, began experiencing some tingling sensations in his hands and feet. By early Tuesday morning, he started having horrible back pain and losing his ability to balance. During his stay at Sparrow hospital, doctors from neurology, infectious diseases, and internal medicine have been working to determine what is causing these symptoms. He's had blood work done, CT scans, MRIs, a lumbar puncture, EKGs, you name it...they have done it. Saturday he started having feeling is his lower back and recent tests show that is spinal cord is still functioning. He is on high dose steroids now and when he's done with them, he's going to in-patient rehab at the hospital. However, with no diagnosis, it is hard to know exactly what his recovery will look like but the doctors are estimating he will be there for 4-6 weeks.
While I am trusting that this Emmy-winning photographer will be back to work quickly, medical care is expensive and being out of work for even just a couple of weeks can really make a huge impact to a family.
My amazing sister-in-law Debbie is out on maternity leave for one more week after having my nephew, Liam. Liam's big brother Henrie just turned 2 in May. This family needs our love and support as they journey through this illness to full recovery. I know that we have all asked, 'what can we do'? The most important thing we can do is to pray that God would give them peace and strength as they learn to trust Him during this healing process. For those of you who are in the area, I know you have been supporting them with offers to help with the yardwork, childcare, meals, etc. and all of those are extremely important and welcome! For those of us who are many miles away - we can help by providing financial support that they will need while Dave is recovering until he is back on his feet and using his immense talent to provide for his family.
