As many of you know, our friend Dave Millstein has been battling terminal cancer, which doctors have determined was caused by exposure to carcinogens during his many years in Fire Service. Dave was diagnosed with glioblastoma in May 2024. Since January 14th, he has been hospitalized—first in Waynesboro, and then transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, where he has remained since January 18th. Over the past two years, Dave has endured several brain surgeries, multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and through it all, he has tried to remain positive and supportive for his family.

His wife, Cary, has recently had to stop working in order to care for their two daughters and to be by Dave’s side during his hospitalization. With Cary unable to work, the family is facing a significant loss of income. While there are some benefits due to them, the process for federal disability retirement and fire department workmen’s compensation is very long and currently uncertain. This has left the family in a difficult financial position and an unclear future.

Your generosity will help cover living expenses, household bills, and future funeral expenses, allowing Cary to focus on caring for Dave and their daughters during this incredibly challenging time.
