Dashawn L. Wilson has been my friend for the last 18 years, and anyone who knows her knows how much she gives to others. For the past five years, she’s cared for her nieces and nephews on and off, always putting family first. She’s dedicated over a decade to working at a charter school and, most recently, started a new position with the Department of Education. Unfortunately, just as she began this new chapter, Dashawn received devastating news: she was diagnosed with a rare form of thyroid cancer. In a matter of days, a mass in her throat tripled in size, forcing her to undergo emergency surgery.

Because Dashawn just started her job at the DOE, she isn’t eligible for paid leave and will be without income for the next three months as she recovers. Anyone who knows “Day” knows she loves to laugh things off, but this is a serious time for her. That’s why I decided to create this page on her behalf—to rally support for someone who has always been there for others.

The funds raised will go directly toward Dashawn’s living expenses, like rent, and help cover her medical bills while she focuses on healing. Any amount you can give is deeply appreciated.
