My name is Laura and I have been neighbors with Darrin and Katy Adams for over 5 years. Our neighborhood is a pretty close community and we have always been there to help each other in a moments notice. This is one time that the Adams could use support in Darrins upcoming medical procedure.

Two years ago, Darrin began to have symptoms that doctors could not identify. Eventually they determined that he was battling Cushing disease which is a hormonal disorder (of the endocrine system) caused by prolonged exposure to high level of cortisol and in his case, from tumors.

Darrin had a tumor identified on his pituitary gland and had it removed last October. This past April he had a mass attached to his thymus behind his sternum removed- which two weeks later led to a near fatal blood clot to his lung. He just recently returned from a consultation at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where the decision was made to start chemo and radiation treatments immediately. His treatment will be 2x's a day- 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

Darrin will have to be living at a near by hotel close to MD Anderson for the entire six weeks of treatment and he won't be able to come home. We're raising money for Darrin and his family to help with the cost of his housing, food and transportation, which is out of pocket, while he is in treatment. This is going to be a tough six weeks away from family let alone the treatment itself- and we're hoping the money raised will take some of the financial burden off of them.
