We know most of you are familiar with the hard road that Dara has faced during the last 5 years. First, beating breast cancer only to later be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and then a recurrence of ovarian cancer at stage 4. And now, our hearts are heavy with the news that Dara's last round of treatments are no longer working. While we are hopeful a new immunotherapy/chemotherapy treatment will give her some relief and comfort, we know that her time with us is limited.
As I a sat with her during a recent infusion treatment at Emory a few days ago, she had to spend much of the time on the phone. First, arguing with insurance, which has denied her latest treatment and then again with Emory calling to get payment for an upcoming, life saving procedure. I saw the exhaustion overcome her as she pulled out a credit card to pay thousands of dollars, the cost left after insurance and after already meeting her deductible this year on January 5.
It's an issue which I know so many are familiar.
We are asking folks to donate so that Dara and her family can navigate this tender time with more ease and less time worrying about how to pay for basic treatment, pain medication and other help to make the end of her life more comfortable. Any burden we can ease for her and those surrounding her would be a huge relief.
And, any amount is so appreciated. If a financial contribution isn't possible, we appreciate your prayers and positivity energy.

Update: 2/7/2026
Dara asked me to write something as she is just incredibly emotional about this outpouring of generosity and she feels so comforted by the support folks have given. Seeing your names, has been a beautiful way to connect and share memories and for me to have an understanding how we all weave together in this community.
I wrote about the hope of continued treatment for comfort but Dara and her doctors have decided it is time rest.
Today, Dara will leave the hospital and come home to receive hospice care.
We so appreciate your continued support ❤️
