In Loving Memory of Our Son, Daniel David Dak

We are Duol Wuow Rut, Daniel’s stepfather, and Sarah Paul, his mother.

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the devastating news of the passing of our beloved son, Daniel David Dak. He died on December 14, 2025, at 7:27 AM while in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services - Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The cause of Daniel’s death remains unknown at this time. An autopsy was ordered by the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office on December 15, 2025, and conducted at the Douglas County Coroner’s Office. Although the autopsy is complete, we are still awaiting the official results.

Daniel was deeply cherished and will be forever remembered by all who loved him. He brought light into our lives, and his spirit will always remain in our hearts.

As we navigate through this heartbreaking loss, we are preparing to honor Daniel with a funeral service. The cost for the funeral is estimated at $28,000 — an amount we are unable to cover on our own.
