My sister, Danielle Jones, was in a terrible traffic accident. She is paralyzed from the neck down and does not want to live like this. The plan, at this point, is to withdraw care on Friday 12/12.

The accident was 11/24, and we have gone through many hoops. My sister was clear on her wishes as was her family, but in Ohio, they can say you aren't quite able to make decision, but also you may be able to at some point, so your family also cannot.

We've struggled because she was clear on her wishes, and we conveyed them, but who could make the decision changed from day to day. It has been heartbreaking as we know what she has wanted but what they will accept has changed.

Today, they accept that she can decide and I am asking you two things.

1 - GET A LIVING WILL. We were not prepared for the purgatory that we lived in. There are situations where you cannot make decisions nor can your proxy. We are working within our family to ensure everyone has one because watching this happen without a directive has been heartbreaking. There are websites with templates that are free. Your bank will likely notarize for free. Counties charge to file, but if you do not want that fee, having multiple family members who have a copy is sufficient.

2 - Many people have reached out asking to help. This is the best way to help. Whatever is not donated to cover cost of final arrangements and a memorial service will not fall to her children. We have family on the ready to cover expenses, but we wanted to give those who wanted to help the opportunity. Nothing is too small and not being able to ok. We recognize times are tough and holidays are upon us all.

Most importantly, we want people to drive safely, understand your car and what it offers, and to enjoy their families. Thank you to all who have read this. If we get one more person to have a directive. this is a win.
