Last night, my dear friend Zak McKeon, age 37, was tragically killed in a fiery motorcycle accident in Branford, CT. Zak was on his way home from work at Hen and Heifer, where he had been employed for many years as a baker. The accident, still under investigation, was caused by a motorist who failed to yield the right of way. Zak was pinned under his bike, which broke into flames. Despite being transported to the ER, he was unable to survive his injuries. He did, however, regain consciousness long enough to tell personnel to contact his wife. Daniella arrived at the hospital in time to hold his hand and say goodbye. He flatlined shortly after.

Zak and Daniella had recently spent all their savings on IVF treatments, which had not yet been successful. This unexpected and devastating loss leaves Daniella unable to pay for funeral expenses as well as her monthly bills. Their landlord had recently informed them that the house was being put on the market and that they would have to move. Additionally, they have over forty chickens who will have to be moved as well.
