Some of you may know that my mom, Dana Spady, has been facing many health struggles the past several years. For at least three years now, she has had frequent, recurrent bouts of severe nausea and vomiting that make it almost impossible for her to lead a normal life or go about her daily activities. In the past year, she has been sick more than she has been well, and the frequent vomiting has left her feeling weak and fatigued much of the time. In October, she and my dad and my aunt travelled to Mayo hospital in Rochester, Minnesota where she was seen and treated in the ER due to dehydration and malnourishment. Also while she was there, the doctors discovered via CT scan a large mass in her pelvic area, (7 1/2 inches in diameter), that they thought was pushing on other organs, and possibly causing the nausea and vomiting. At the time, the doctors at Mayo thought that it was likely not malignant, due to a few different factors. However, they encouraged her to get a biopsy done just to make sure. This week, she received the results of the biopsy, and unfortunately the mass is malignant. The next step is for her to undergo surgery to remove the mass, and at that point, doctors will be able to better assess exactly what she is dealing with. 
       Mom has obviously not been able to work much at all for the past several years due to her health, and since Dad is her primary caregiver, he will need to take a substantial amount of time away from work to care for her, take her to appointments, etc. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! We also covet your prayers during this time, for a smooth surgery, that the cancer hasn't spread, and for emotional strength.
