Support for Dama After Losing Royce

As so many of you know, just a few months ago, New Orleans lost one of its most cherished artists and culture-bearers, Royce Osborn -- and Dama Fountain, Royce's wife of 17 years, lost her partner in love and in life.
During the years that Royce lived with and fought cancer, Dama, herself a longtime artist, creator and educator in the New Orleans community, fought alongside him full-time, stepping back from sources of income in order to provide round-the-clock care and support to her other half. She remained by his side in this way until his transition this past September.
As you can imagine, this act of profound love and partnership has taken a serious financial toll. The myriad of everyday and unexpected expenses that arose from Royce’s illness and round-the-clock caregiving, as well as the loss of income because neither Dama nor Royce could work, depleted their savings and has made it impossible for Dama to catch up on her own.
Dama has now returned to her work, but is in need of support to ensure that she can cover her mortgage and other recent unforeseen expenses while she gets on more solid footing.
We, as members of Dama's wide-reaching community, are reaching out today to share this opportunity for all of us to reflect the care that Dama gave to Royce, and that she has for so long given to her community, back to her. In this new year’s season of renewal, please join us in supporting Dama as she continues to rebuild her life and routine, and to recover her financial security, after this unthinkable loss.
