My name is Dalia, and my spouse and I have been full-time, live-in caregivers for my parents for the past 5 years. Both of us had to leave our jobs due to my mothers dementia and my fathers physical disabilities. Recently, we experienced the heartbreaking and unimaginable loss of my mother, and then my father three weeks later. Their passing has not only left an emotional void in our lives, but it has also brought extreme financial challenges. With both gone, our household income was suddenly cut to nearly nothing. We have lost both my mother and father’s income and the income I was receiving for caregiving. Now, we are struggling to make ends meet. Dealing with two deaths is unbelievably challenging, we just need a little assistance until our new employment income kicks in.

The funds raised here will go directly toward helping us stay in our apartment. We need help covering rent, utilities, and groceries during this difficult transition. On top of everything, we just learned that it is required to pay back my mother and my father’s social security benefits for the months in which they passed. This unexpected expense has made things even more challenging for us.
